The IDC says that worldwide tablet sales are expected to jump from 16.1 million in 2010 to 147.2 million by 2015. The IDC also believes that roughly 45 million of these tablets will be purchased by companies for their employees.

In a Yellowfin blog it makes note that on a normal basis the average consumer depends on their mobile device to make purchasing decisions all the time. Tablets gaining popularity in offices is the result of consumer electronics crossing over into the professional and corporate world. So it makes it easy to assume that business professionals will begin to depend on their mobile devices, like tablets, to assist them in making business decisions as well, and that would be done through business intelligence being delivered through tablets.

Tablets will undoubtedly play a major role in making business intelligence more mobile and more widely used. If it’s mobile, it’s easier to access, and if it’s easy to access more people will use it. It looks like the tablet and business intelligence could be the perfect match.
