508 Compliance
Company Statement
Section 508 is an amendment to the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973. It applies to electronic and information technology developed or purchased by the Federal Government. This 1998 legislation ensures information and services from federal agencies be made accessible for people with disabilities.
PeopleCube acknowledges that proper compliance with these standards is important to our users with visual, auditory and mobility impairments. PeopleCube is committed to providing everyone within these affected groups accessibility to our products in the areas of user interface design and the addition of assistive technologies such as verbal screen readers, refreshable Braille displays, screen magnifiers and other assistive software and hardware tools.
We have made significant enhancements to the PeopleCube product family to expand its use by the disabled, and we will continue to innovate. This includes incorporation of the Section 508 design guidelines into our product user interface planning and in our commercial Web site development. Specifically:
- Our Meeting Maker (version 8.0 and above) calendaring product features platform specific enhancements to our Windows and Macintosh interfaces that better interface into current, more accessible computer operating systems. Our new Web based client for Meeting Maker incorporates standard HTML based elements that can be easily read and accessed by assistive technology.
- Our Web based Resource Scheduler product is structured to facilitate assistive technology tools that will work with current Web browser technologies.
- Our Web based WebEvent products are structured to facilitate assistive technology tools that will work with current Web browser technologies.
- PeopleCube's corporate Web site has been consolidated and redesigned to better meet the needs of all its customers, including those with disabilities.
PeopleCube will also make every attempt whenever possible to support the built-in accessibility features of the platform's operating systems. There are sometimes interdependencies with products from other application and platform vendors that PeopleCube cannot control. But when these are uncovered, our goal is to work with these vendors to provide a total solution for accessibility so that such integration appears seamless. PeopleCube's product suite includes the following:
- Meeting Maker - Calendar client available in native form for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. Also available as an HTML Web client.
- Resource Scheduler - Web based client for scheduling rooms and resources, including optional catering support.
- WebEvent - Our web based WebEvent View product is structured to facilitate assistive technology tools that will work with current web browser technologies.
- Arrival Calendar Server - Database services and server support for collaborative calendaring and scheduling. Includes SOAP APIs and sources to the HTML Web client.
PeopleCube products are currently used by many federal organizations and already conform to many of the 508 accessibility guidelines and regulations. We will continue to innovate in the development of these product lines while at the same time subjecting this new functionality to the guidelines set out in the Section 508 standards. We are striving to ensure that our products and Web site are accessible to everyone. If you find a problem that prevents access, please contact us.
